Studio

mayaPRAXIS is a design studio that looks at architecture and its landscape. Our work runs along a path of diverse scales, types and settings – architecture, urban design, interior, furniture, exhibition and art. Design is creative and collaborative at mayaPRAXIS. We like to explore the spirit of the project – something that is often hidden behind the ‘functional’ requirements and project economics.

Taking cue from the basic needs, we rethink the idea of the project, its usefullness and bring life and energy to the design. A simple footbridge becomes a public sculpture that you can walk into. A school becomes a place of learning from nature - in planning, materiality and detail. A large development of duplex apartments is designed as stack of houses with gardens and double heights around a community garden. This way of reading of the type of place expands the possibilities and lends energy to the design. After reviewing the needs and possibilities, our approach brings new ideas, new materials, new technology and new collaborations to the work. We bring the maya to PRAXIS.
