Work

Design has to ‘work’ – for both the utilitarian and emotional need. It should consider how architecture or landscape ‘functions’ as well as how it ‘feels’. For example, good lighting makes the space useful, but it cannot stop there. It also has to work at a subtle level of feeling ‘right’ or feeling good.

Design makes the architecture work with the landscape and interior. It anticipates the comfort and aspirations of the people who use it most. It elevates the building to architecture that participates in the street. It comforts the user and excites the visitor. It brings beauty to structure, shapes spaces with materials and makes the building ‘work’ at various levels. This portfolio of projects shows how mayaPRAXIS works towards this way of Design.
