Located in a busy junction, this footbridge provides essential safe passage to pedestrians. With built-in escalators for modern convenience, the design integrates a structurally efficient idea with geometric architecture to make an artful design.

The design keeps a lightness of form and an engineered beauty of structure to make it a sculptural experience.

Design Approach

Steel is cut and joined into a repetitive form that becomes a structural lattice which can span a long distance across the road. The structural lattice is simple and elegantly geometric. On either side, the escalator and the staircase are kept aligned but one following the other to accommodate both in the available narrow footpath. The structure for these are integrated well with the geometry of the main bridge span. This play of structure and detail lends architectural character to this simple piece of infrastructure.
